NFL star Reggie Wayne has been eagerly awaiting his return to the football field after tearing his ACL last season. So when his opportunity came on Wednesday, it’s only fitting that he made that most of it.

The Indianapolis Colts wide receiver rolled up to training camp in the back of a two-seater IndyCar driven by American racer and hometown hero Ed Carpenter.

“I want one of these,” Wayne told reporters after hopping out of the high-powered machine. “I don’t know how I’m going to get one, but I enjoyed every single bit of that. That was fun. I’m a guy that likes speed – this is one way to get that speed in me so I enjoyed every bit of it.”

Lewis Hamilton will be aiming to win his third straight Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday and fifth overall as he chases Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg for the championship lead in the last race before the summer break.

Mercedes has won nine of the season’s first 10 races and Rosberg leads the drivers’ standings with 190 points, 14 more than Hamilton. Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull is third with 106 points.

If previous results are anything to go by, Rosberg would not seem to have much of a chance to hold off Hamilton. Rosberg’s last three placings at the winding, slow Hungaroring circuit have been going from bad to worse — ninth, 10th and 19th. Hamilton, meanwhile, won in 2012 and 2013 and was fourth in 2011. He also took the top spot on the podium in Hungary in 2007 and 2009.

Ahead of his Suzuka 8 Hours participation and following several months of important MotoGP tests with Suzuki, motogp.com caught up with Frenchman Randy de Puniet.

Suzuki has tested this year at several Grand Prix venues. What is next in terms of the testing schedule?

“We took part in winter tests in Sepang. In Austin and Argentina, unfortunately I couldn’t ride, but I did in Philip Island and also in Barcelona. The schedule is different in July, I am preparing for the Suzuka 8 Hours at the end of the month. My MotoGP program will start again in September, which leaves an important break.

Fernando Alonso has hailed the “amazing” job being done this year by Daniel Ricciardo.

At Silverstone, Spaniard Alonso’s wheel-to-wheel duel with world champion Sebastian Vettel was littered with radio complaints about one another’s driving.

But after Hockenheim, where the Ferrari driver had a similarly thrilling battle with Vettel’s new teammate Ricciardo, Alonso had nothing but praise for the Australian.
