IndyCar: Verizon Named Title Sponsor Of IndyCar Series

IndyCar announced a multi-year agreement with Verizon on Friday that will make the telecommunications giant the title sponsor of the series.

Verizon replaces former title sponsor Izod. Its sponsorship of what will now be known as the Verizon IndyCar Series launches with the March 30 season-opening race.

Red Bull Racing surprised the F1 paddock by showing both good speed and reliability on the first day of practice in Australia.

Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo were fourth and sixth fastest, while the Aussie ran 64 laps – only one fewer than the maximum achieved by any driver.

Lewis Hamilton came back from a disastrous start to finish the first day in Australia on top of the times, emphasizing that as expected Mercedes will set the pace this weekend.

Hamilton stopped on track at the start of FP1 due to a sensor issue, but ran 37 laps without issue in the second session to lead his teammate Nico Rosberg by just 0.157s.
