Fernando Alonso admits that Ferrari didn’t have its usual race pace in Korea, having already realized after practice that it would be a tough weekend.

Alonso finished sixth at Yeongam, behind and .

“Normally on Sunday we have a good pace, but here also on Sunday we didn’t have the performance we expected,” he said. “We saw on Friday a little bit, the long runs were not as good as other Grands Prix, and we knew that maybe the race was tough, and unfortunately we confirmed this feeling today. We were not so good at the start, in Turn 3 we lost a position to Nico, and then we were all the race behind Hulkenberg, which obviously also doesn’t help the tires. We didn’t have the pace, but hopefully in Suzuka we can come back to a better one and fight for the podium again.”

Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel’s relentless push toward a seemingly inevitable fourth-straight drivers’ championship continued with a victory at the Korean Grand Prix on Sunday.

Even two safety-car periods, the emergence of a truck on the circuit mid-race and the incineration of his teammate’s car were not enough to put off the German, who made it a hat-trick of wins in Korea, and a fourth successive victory overall.

Alonso happy despite being beaten by Massa

Fernando Alonso insists that he’s happy with how qualifying unfolded in Monza, despite being beaten by teammate .

The two Ferraris tried to coordinate a tow to help the Spaniard, and while he complained initially on the radio that the Brazilian was too far ahead, he said that in the end it had worked out. Alonso will start fifth, right behind Massa.

Fernando was clearly annoyed that a negative radio message, made when the plan for a tow appeared to been unraveling, had been played on TV.
