MotoGP Teams Prepare For Final Pre-Season Test In Qatar

Between March 7th-9th, the majority of teams will descend on Qatar’s Losail International Circuit – also the host venue for the season-opening Grand Prix – for the last test before the 2014 season commences later this month.

The test, to be staged across three days, will come as a final opportunity for teams to try out new components and race simulation runs before the opening practice session of the Commercial Bank Grand Prix of Qatar on Thursday March 20th.

Nicky Hayden and posted their best times of the second Sepang test on final day of the Malaysian visit.

The DRIVE M7 Aspar teammates both picked up their pace on the final day, the Japanese rider clocking his best time of the entire six days in February at Sepang (2:02.070), although the American was unable to match his fastest effort from the first visit, when the conditions were more favorable.

Those riding the Honda RCV1000R need more time to get to grips with the new machine. That is the opinion of Shuhei Nakamoto, HRC executive vice president, who shared his opinion on the situation at the end of last week’s Sepang test.

There are four Honda RCV1000R bikes (originally dubbed the ‘Production Racer’) in the field this season. Two are run by , with and at the helm, whereas others are piloted by GO&FUN Honda Gresini’s Scott Redding and Cardion AB Motoracing’s Karel Abraham.

Nicky Hayden was somewhat outspoken following the third and final day of this week’s Sepang test, having finished proceedings in 13th position.

For 2014, the 2006 World Champion switches from Team to Drive M7 Aspar, riding the all-new RCV1000R motorcycle. However, the American admitted to feeling rather dissatisfied on Thursday.

For 2014, Nicky Hayden is one of four riders to be piloting the all-new RCV1000R customer bike. The 2006 World Champion continued to adapt to the machine as the Sepang Official MotoGP test started on Tuesday.

American Hayden completed Day 1 in 17th position as he continued his apprenticeship with the Drive M7 Aspar team.
