After suffering a massive high-side crash in Sunday’s morning warm-up session, Bradl experienced another high-speed slam on Lap 4 of the Italian Grand Prix when he was clipped by Cal Crutchlow’s bike.
“I am speechless,” said Bradl, who scored his second DNF of the season. “I was anxious to race here in Mugello but now I want to forget this weekend as soon as possible.”
While racing for eighth, Crutchlow went down in Turn 5 sending his bike sliding across the track and into Bradl’s rear wheel. The German high-sided — much like he did earlier in the day — and tumbled across the gravel trap.
“After (a bad start) I was preparing to overtake the guys in front of me but suddenly in the second chicane on Turn 5, Crutchlow crashed and his bike tumbled in the track and I was not able to avoid it,” said Bradl. “His bike hit me in the back and I had another big crash similar to this morning.”
Bradl escaped without injury but admitted that he was in “a lot of pain” after the pair of crashes — mainly in the right arm and elbow. Crutchlow was also uninjured.MotoGP, Mugello, Stefan Bradl, Video
