MotoGP World Championship leader Marc Marquez claims to have been left ‘surprised’ that Race Direction is looking further into the incident between himself and Dani Pedrosa from Sunday’s Aragón Grand Prix, but the 20-year-old is not expecting to be penalised.

When running behind Pedrosa on the sixth lap of the race at MotorLand Aragón, Marquez out-braked himself and made passing contact with the Repsol Honda Team bike in front of him, thus slicing through a sensor cable on the back of Pedrosa’s machine which left the latter without traction control and therefore crashing out of the race just moments later.

Marc Marquez’s rivals have a mountain to climb at the Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Sepang this weekend to chase down the Repsol Honda Team rider’s 39-point lead in the MotoGP™ World Championship with only four races to go.

Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo is Marquez’s closest challenger and will be giving his all to try and haul back points on the Honda rookie, who last time out in Aragón made the headlines for not only his latest win. His contact with teammate Dani Pedrosa, which led to the rear wheel sensor of the latter failing – resulting in a big highside – will be discussed by Race Direction this Thursday.

After the publishing of the 19-event 2014 MotoGP race calendar on Wednesday, the dates for winter testing have also been revealed.

As has been the case since the end of the 2012 campaign, the new season now officially begins on the day after the season-ending Grand Prix in Valencia. In a further change for 2014, there will be no inclusion of the Moto2 and Moto3 categories in the official Valencia post-race test, but instead three for days for the MotoGP riders from Monday 11th until Wednesday 13th November. Some teams involved in the intermediate and lightweight classes do, however, intend to carry out private test outings at Jerez (14-15 November) and Almeria (26-28 November).

For the seventh consecutive year, MotoGP will return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) in 2014 as the venue hosts the action on a new-look road course.

From next year onwards, the three classes will compete at the world-famous venue as they already have done in the events of 2008 to 2013, beginning on the renowned yard of bricks before continuing to circulate in an anti-clockwise direction. The 16-turn, 2.645-mile circuit will feature exciting new turn configurations and braking zones, creating more passing opportunities, while the entire infield section will be repaved to create a smoother surface.
