Marc VDS Racing’s Team’s Tito Rabat was fastest as Moto2 testing resumed on Tuesday in Jerez. The Spaniard was joined inside the top three by Interwetten Paddock Moto2’s Tom Luthi and his own team-mate Mika Kallio.
There were almost eight hours of track action on Tuesday as the intermediate and lightweight classes shared the circuit for their testing duties. However, there was a distinct lack of action in the morning follow heavy rain overnight.
Rabat and Luthi shared the top spot amongst them as the afternoon progressed, but it was eventually the former who led proceedings with his best effort of 1’42.747. This was just over two tenths of a second up on Luthi, while Kallio was half a second adrift of his team-mate on a day of distinctly changeable track conditions.
In fourth place, British rookie Sam Lowes impressed for Speed Up, leading reigning Moto3 World Champion Maverick Viñales (Pons HP 40) and Takaaki Nakagami (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia). 2012 Moto3 title winner Sandro Cortese was seventh for Dynavolt Intact GP, with Italtrans Racing Team’s Julian Simon eighth fastest.
The top ten was rounded out by Simone Corsi – with NGM Forward Racing running a Forward KLX chassis for the first time – and Viñales’ team-mate Luis Salom.Moto2, MotoGP, Tito Rabat
