F1: Marussia Confirms Chilton Will Return Next Season

Max Chilton will return to Marussia next season, the team confirmed Saturday at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham, UK.

The 22-year-old Briton will race alongside Frenchmen once again – making Marussia only the second team to retain its same driver pairing from the 2013 season. They join Mercedes, who welcome back and Nico Rosberg.

Mexican fans in Austin will be frustrated to learn that Esteban Gutierrez has received a 10-place grid penalty for impeding in Q1.

Gutierrez was weaving to get heat into his tires, and the FIA noted that he was “performing maneuvers that the stewards considered dangerous.”

Max Chilton says he’d like to benefit from continuity by staying with Marussia for a second season in 2014.

His teammate has already been confirmed, but thus far there has been no firm word on Chilton’s future.
