Dungey Takes Budds Creek

The 24th Annual Red Bull National showcased ultra-competitive racing action for Round 5 of the 2013 Pro Championship, sanctioned by . Reigning 450 Class champion captured his second overall victory of the season in the 450 Class. Blake Baggett returned to his winning ways from 2012 as the defending 250 Class champion secured his first overall victory of the season with a big win in Mechanicsville, Md. Saturday’s win marked back-to-back Budds Creek victories for both riders in their respective classes.

Yoshimura Suzuki’s laid down the fastest lap of the day in the 450 Class, where he came into Moto 1 with the first choice of gate pick. However, it was Toyota/JGR/Yamaha’s Justin Brayton and Smartop/MotoConcepts Racing’s Mike Alessi who went head-to-head for the Motorcycle Superstore Holeshot, which Alessi secured at the last second. From there, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s grabbed the early lead and immediately put a gap on the rest of the field.

Villopoto Carries Momentum Into Budds Creek

This Saturday, Southern Maryland’s MX Park will host the world’s best riders for Round 5 of the 2013 Pro Championship, sanctioned by . Taking place in Mechanicsville, Md., just an hour outside of the nation’s capital, the 23rd Annual Red Bull Budds Creek National will set the stage for two of the most highly contested championships in Lucas Oil Pro Motocross history. Current points leader and 2011 champion will go head-to-head with reigning champ in the 450 Class, while Ken Roczen and Eli Tomac will both attempt to become the second repeat winner in the 250 Class as Marvin Musquin looks to secure his third consecutive win at Budds Creek.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Villopoto captured his third overall victory of the season at with a clean sweep in the 450 Class, giving the points leader a total of seven moto wins to date. Villopoto’s successful season has given him considerable momentum heading into Round 5 this weekend, where he looks to extend his points lead at Budds Creek.

Villopoto Victorious At High Point

After two consecutive days of rain in southern Pennsylvania, the 37th running of the GEICO High Point National shaped up as a great day of racing at the historic in Mt. Morris. extended his points lead in the 450 Class after sweeping both motos to secure his third victory of the season at Round 4 of the Pro Championship, sanctioned by . Marvin Musquin rode on to his second straight victory in the 250 Class this season after taking his first career moto-win in Lucas Oil Pro Motocross.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto returned to his winning ways on Saturday after finishing third overall at the last round. In Moto 1, Team Honda Muscle Milk’s grabbed his fourth Motorcycle Superstore Holeshot of the season, but it didn’t take long for Villopoto to take command of the lead on the opening lap.

‘13 Season Hits High Point

At the first annual Built Ford Tough Tennessee National, Round 3 of the Pro Championship, sanctioned by , defending 450 Class champion secured his first overall win of the season, ending ’s previous five-moto win streak. Now only ten points separate them as the series heads to Mt. Morris, Pa. this Saturday, June 8, for the GEICO High Point National. In the highly-competitive 250 Class, Round 4 could potentially see a fourth different overall winner in as many rounds.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Villopoto, the 2011 450 Class Champion, made his return to Lucas Oil Pro Motocross last month after missing the 2012 season due to a knee injury. Villopoto’s return has been nearly flawless, sweeping five of the first six motos. Although Villopoto has arguably been the fastest rider on the track this season, Dungey, , , and the rest of the field have their sights set on the points leader.

Dungey Claims First Win Of ‘13

Another page was added to the Pro history book as the inaugural Built Ford Tough Tennessee National took place on Saturday at in Blountville, Tenn. For the first time in 15 years, the Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by , made a stop in the Southeast region. At Round 3 of the 12-race series, new winners emerged in both the 450 and 250 Class as teammates (450) and Marvin Musquin (250) each secured their first overall win in 2013.

Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX rider Josh Grant laid down the fastest lap time of the day in the 450 Class, giving the California native first gate pick of the day. Moto 1 got off to an exciting start as Monster Energy Kawasaki’s shot off the gate to claim his first Motorcycle Superstore Holeshot of the season, as well as the early lead. It wasn’t without contention from Team Honda Muscle Milk’s though, as the two put on an exciting show for the fans by dicing back and forth at the beginning of Moto 1. In the second half of the race, Villopoto eventually put a gap on the rookie Barcia, where he went on to secure his fifth consecutive moto win this season.
