Trulli to race in inaugural Formula E championship with TrulliGP

Drayson Racing has been replaced by TrulliGP for the inaugural all-electric Formula E season. The new team will be managed by winner who will also drive one of his cars during the season.

The 39-year-old Italian is the eighth driver (in a field of 20) to have a confirmed ride for the inaugural 2014-2015 season.

Video: Jarno Trulli test-drives Formula E car

, who won the 2004 Monaco Grand Prix in , test drove the Spark-Renault SRT_01E at La Ferte Gaucher circuit near Choisy-le-Roi, France, earlier this month.

The 39-year-old Italian is a member of the Drivers’ Club, and hopes to become one of the 20 drivers who will compete in the series’ inaugural season starting in September 2014.

Former F1 drivers express interest in Formula E

Former drivers Jarno Trulli, Jerome d’Ambrosio, , and six-time GP2 race winner Sam Bird, have added their names to the Formula E Drivers’ Club.

In September, when FIA’s new electric racing series kicks off, 20 drivers will take to the Beijing street circuit, with only Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt having confirmed rides. However, the ever-growing pool of drivers that the teams will have to choose from continues to boast some impressive names.
