The month of May is shaping up to be one of the biggest in recent memory for Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Monday morning the track announced another exciting event would be added to the growing schedule.
Country music superstar Jason Aldean will perform in concert during Legends Day on Saturday, May 24.
“Over the last several years we have continued to add reasons for our fans to visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the day before the Indianapolis 500 to celebrate our current drivers and the legends of the race as part of Legends Day,” said J. Douglas Boles, IMS president.
“Adding a concert featuring an outstanding entertainer like Jason Aldean is a fantastic way for fans to cap off a day of honoring our current and past drivers and get geared up for ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing’ that will take place the next day.”
The announcement was certainly a popular one amongst IndyCar fans.

Tickets for the concert go on sale Monday, February 17 at 10 a.m. ET. Fans that hold tickets to any 2014 IMS events will be able to receive a discounted ticket. Ticket holders will also be granted admission to “Legends Day Honoring Mario Andretti by Firestone” earlier in the day.
The racing icon will be honored for the 45th anniversary of his 1969 Indy 500 victory.
“I am so honored to be part of Legends Day this year, at a place I truly love, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway,” Andretti said. “I just can’t explain how it feels to be treated so well by the people in Indianapolis even long after retiring from the sport. They certainly love tradition. And I’m proud to have had a part in the Speedway tradition for as long as I have and feel spoiled that the fans treat me and the other drivers like kings. I just can’t thank them enough. I’m looking forward to May and to being part of Legends Day.”
Legends Day will include the annual Public Drivers’ Meeting on pit road, autograph session with the 2014 Indianapolis 500 starting field and former drivers, as well as an Indy 500 memorabilia show.Indianapolis 500, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, IndyCar, Mario Andretti
