The No. 41 A.J. Foyt Enterprises car may have made it through the opening lap carnage in Indianapolis unscathed, and the Brit was able to drive it home to an 18th place finish. His helmet, however, tells a different story.

IndyCar: Dixon fastest after opening day of practice

The Verizon Series took to the newly configured road course at for its first two practice sessions for the Grand Prix of Indianapolis.

Scott Dixon put on the fastest time of the day during second practice, while was unable to improve on his practice one time and fell to third on the charts.

IndyCar: Bourdais pleased with new track, fastest in first practice

Four-time Champ Car World Series champion and former F1 driver Sebastian Bourdais was quickest in opening practice at the newly configured Indianapolis road course Thursday morning.

“We had a good test on the new road course last Wednesday,” said Bourdais, “I have to say I had some reservations early on because the corners (of the new racetrack) are very tight, but the grip more than makes up for it.”

Team Penske and Verizon Wireless announced Monday they have increased their partnership both on and off the track.

The multi-year agreement will see expanded use of Verizon’s wireless services across the Penske organization, with the goal of improved communication, as well as additional sponsorship opportunities within the team.

“Verizon has been a terrific partner for Team Penske and we are excited to continue to grow our relationship with them in 2014 and beyond,” said team owner . “Verizon’s technology and marketing activation has meant so much to Team Penske and the sport of racing and we look forward to building on this special partnership in the future.”
