F1: Nasr Tests Williams After Landing Reserve Role

As expected Felipe Nasr has been confirmed as the Williams reserve driver for 2014, and the Brazilian had his first experience of the new car in today.

Nasr won the 2011 British F3 title and has raced in GP2 for the past two seasons. He also finished third in the 2012 Daytona 24 Hours. He will run in five Friday FP1 sessions.

F1: Mercedes Ends Bahrain Test On High With Rosberg Fastest

Nico Rosberg and topped the times in Bahrain today, and the German also set the fastest time of the week.

It was not a perfect day as he stopped on circuit and brought out red flag on two occasions, but still managed to record 89 laps, the highest number achieved by any driver today.

Michael Schumacher has won his fight against pneumonia, according to the major German daily newspaper Bild.

Earlier, the seven-time World Champion’s manager Sabine Kehm played down rumors the lung infection had interrupted efforts to wake Schumacher from his long coma.

F1: Rosberg Pleased With Mercedes Mileage In Jerez

Nico Rosberg has done more mileage than any other driver in a 2014 car thus far, having topped the laps completed charts at Jerez last week.

He already enjoyed a head start after he shook down the Mercedes at a filming day at the previous Friday.

“Definitely I think it’s a surprise to do so many laps,” said Rosberg. “It’s such a mission with this new technology and everything, and really to get this reliability so early on is really a positive. But we’ve got no idea where we are in terms of pace and all that. So it’s really early days.

Ross Brawn said Saturday that he’s retiring from – and insisted that he was not joking.

Brawn made the comments at a fishing event in Scotland, where he was invited to mark the traditional Feb. 1 opening of season on the River Dee

His comments would seem to put an end to speculation that he could return to the sport with McLaren or Honda.
