’s helmet, which shattered into three pieces during his skiing accident, has been returned to his family after officials find no third-party involvement during his skiing incident, U.K.’s Mirror reported.

Stern, a weekly German magazine, also claimed that when paramedics arrived at the scene of Schumacher’s skiing incident, they may have misdiagnosed the severity of his condition.

According to the magazine, Schumacher was conscious when they arrived, making eye contact and responding to the paramedics.

“Had the rescuers arrived at the scene minutes later, they may have recognized the matter of life and death,” says Stern.

Mirror reports that Schumacher was then flown to a regional hospital at Moutiers without being hooked up to a ventilator.

The 20-minute delay in taking him from Moutiers, where he was initially intubated but had already lapsed into deep coma, to the specialist University Hospital in Grenoble, where he currently lies, could have been critical to his health, reports Stern.
