In the days and hours before scrutineering at Hockenheim, uncertainty reigns when it comes to F1′s new technical controversy.

The FIA’s Charlie Whiting has warned teams that unless they reach an unanimous decision regarding the controversial technology called ‘,’ the risk of protests in Germany and beyond will swirl around the paddock.

F1: Massa can’t ‘trust’ Perez after crash; Force India asks FIA for review

The FIA could take another look at the Felipe Massa/Sergio Perez incident at the Canadian GP after Force India claimed that it had “new elements” to back up its case.

Perez received a five-place grid penalty for this weekend after the last lap incident.

Sergio Perez and Force India have responded to criticism from Felipe Massa and after the controversial last lap collision between the pair.

Perez was given a five-place grid penalty for Austria, essentially because he appeared to move left just before the incident.

is looking to get both its cars well inside the top 10 in qualifying after a promising start to the week in practice on Thursday.

In FP1 and Nico Hulkenberg were eighth and 10th, while in the afternoon they were sixth and seventh, although not all top drivers set representative times.

Formula 1 could axe Friday morning practice to cut costs

F1 could axe Friday morning practice sessions next year, as teams consider how to cut costs in the absence of a mandatory budget cap.

Although keenly supported by the small teams, and championed by FIA president Jean Todt, the 2015 budget cap was vetoed by the powerful ‘Strategy Group’ teams including grandees Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes.
