Haas Automation partners with Ferrari F1 team

is to become a sponsor of Scuderia before launching his own team in 2016, the Italian team has announced. Haas Automation logos will appear on the F14 T from this weekend’s race in Britain.

Ferrari has always been the intended partner for Haas, despite Mercedes also being mentioned. However, today’s announcement stopped short of confirming that a deal for Haas to use Ferrari engines and other technology has been done, saying only that discussions are still ongoing.

F1: Tempers reach boiling point as Ferrari’s struggles continue

When told on Sunday to push up to his nearest rival, the radio answer from Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen was immediate.

“Well, give me more power!” the Finn told his engineer.

Raikkonen has notably struggled since returning to the Italian team in 2014, but so too has Ferrari with its newly V6-powered F14-T.

Video: Supercars get airborne during time trial contest

We’re sure the spectators were pleased with the person who decided to put a small bridge at the bottom of this course in the 2014 Cholmondeley Pageant of Power.

We’re not so sure about the ’ owners though, given that each of these seem to have caught some kind of air over the small bump en route to the finishing line.

Fernando Alonso may have topped opening practice on Friday, but the Spaniard is very aware that performance now may hurt the team in the long-run.

The two-time Champion says that should not compromise next season by getting too bogged down with improving this year’s car.

Kimi Raikkonen remains confident that his 2014 season can turn around after his recent run of frustration.

Raikkonen has been involved in a series of incidents and has struggled to get the F14 T to his liking.
