MotoGP: Lorenzo Leads Way In Morning Warm-Up

Jorge Lorenzo has topped the Warm-Up session ahead of the season-deciding GP Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana. The reigning World Champion, who will start this afternoon’s race from second place, led championship leader and pole-sitter .

Sunday will mark the first last-race title decider since Nicky Hayden claimed the world crown in 2006. On this occasion, rookie Marquez – aiming to become the youngest-ever premier class title winner – leads Lorenzo by 13 points.

Marc Marquez blasted to pole position in track record fashion at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, beating title rival Jorge Lorenzo and teammate Dani Pedrosa.

Marquez registered a superb lap of 1:30.237 with just under two minutes remaining in qualifying to take over the top spot, crushing Pedrosa’s old record of 1:30.844 set in 2012.

With the Saturday activity at the GP Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana getting under way in FP3, Repsol Honda’s title chasing rider Marc Marquez recorded a scorching 1:30.803 lap, topping the timesheet ahead of and .

Despite the cloudy conditions Marquez put in his fast lap at the end of the morning practice, going quicker than ’s 2012 pole record of 1:30.844 at the Spanish track.

MotoGP: Marquez Quickest As Opening Day At Valencia Concludes

Championship leader Marc Marquez was once again the man to beat on Friday at Valencia, as the rookie set a best time of 1:31.220 to top the combined timesheets.

Despite windy conditions, Marquez managed to up his pace late in the session – coming within four-tenths of ’s pole record of 1’30.844 from last year.

Pedrosa trailed his Repsol Honda teammate by 0.066 seconds with 0.158 seconds off the pace in third.

After the first outing for the riders at Valencia in FP1, it was standings leader Marc Marquez who set the pace by a 0.018s margin, with and just behind him on the timesheet.

At the start of the GP Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana weekend, which will see either Marquez or his Yamaha Factory Racing rival Lorenzo crowned as 2013 MotoGP champion, it was the former who took the advantage over the latter late in the session, in sunny, dry conditions.
