It was a Rick Hendrick kind of day: He came, he saw, he bought.

As expected, the championship NASCAR team owner and dealer came to the 12th annual Collector Car Auction, where late Saturday afternoon he bought VIN No. 1 of the 2015 Corvette Z06 Stingray for $1 million, all of which will go to the Karmanos Cancer Institute, one of Chevrolet’s favorite charities.

Final preparations are under way for the 12th annual Collector Car Auction and all indications are that it will be a sensational event.

About 550 are set to roll across the block Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with a spectacular and diverse assortment of and trucks. That’s up from about 410 last year. The vast majority of the will sell at no reserve, meaning the high bidder will win the car, regardless of the final hammer price. Fewer than a dozen will sell with a reserve, or a required minimum bid price to change hands.

A massive sinkhole that opened up under a Kentucky museum Wednesday morning swallowed several vintage and rare Corvettes.

As reported on Autos Section – FOXNews.com

The National Corvette Museum said the Bowling Green Fire Department estimates the sinkhole to be around 25-30 feet deep and 40 feet wide.
