707-Horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Is The Most Powerful American Car Ever

Dodge has announced that its new supercharged V8 will be rated at an astonishing 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque when it debuts in the 2015 Challenger SRT later this year, making it the most powerful mass produced American car ever.

The 6.2-liter Hellcat HEMI engine features an iron block, forged alloy pistons and is fed by a 2,380cc supercharger blowing at 11.8 psi. It will be available with either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission.

‘Addicted to Winning – The Unbeatable Champions of Motorsport’ was the theme for the 22nd edition of the ever expanding Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Fittingly, the main sculpture was dedicated to Mercedes-Benz, who celebrate 120 years of motorsport in 2014.

Barrett-Jackson gears up for custom car competition in Reno

A $100,000 purse in cash and prizes is on the line in the upcoming Barrett-Jackson Cup, with $30,000 being awarded to the entrant that brings in the best custom car.

The event will take place in Reno, Nevada during the Barrett-Jackson Hot August Nights event, where 500,000 automotive enthusiasts are expected to be on hand.

A massive sinkhole that swallowed eight prized sports at the National Corvette Museum has become such a popular attraction that officials want to preserve it — and may even put one or two of the crumpled back inside the hole.

It was only two years old when it was stolen, but after 33 years the police have found a Michigan man’s 1979 Chevrolet Corvette nearly 1,000 miles away.

The car’s 71-year-old owner, George Talley, got a call from AAA this past Friday telling him his ‘Vette was in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, WXYZ reports.
