In its 43-year history, Barrett-Jackson has raised more than $60 million for charity, and Friday night’s auction in Scottsdale saw an additional $1.4 million raised towards philanthropic efforts.
One of the staples of any Barrett-Jackson auction are the so-called “Baby Bird” Ford Thunderbirds built between 1955-57. These two-seat T-Birds are true icons of the 1950s and have long been a favorite of collectors.
And if you want a Baby Bird, you want one worked on by Amos and Justin Minter of Dallas, the acknowledged gurus of Thunderbird restorations. Now there are lots of beautiful red or white or black T-Birds, but rarely do you see one like Lot 1053, in stunning Gunmetal Gray over a red interior. Just spectacular colors.
