The “Need For Speed” 2013 Ford Mustang movie car jumped to the top of the sales charts, at least temporarily, with an emotional, high-energy $300,000 sale Saturday afternoon at 12th annual Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Collector Car Auction.
All of the sale proceeds will go to benefit the Henry Ford Health System, one of Ford Motor Co.’s pet charities.
The buyer was Dave Flynn of the Flynn Automotive Group in Youngstown, Ohio, the same man who bought the first 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 the night before.
The sale before an absolutely packed house at the South Florida Fairgrounds had the crowd up on its feet as the auctioneers worked the audience. The buzz in the room was huge as the bidding kept rising and rising before settling in at $300,000.
In the staging lanes before going up for sale, the hot-rodded 2013 Mustang drew huge crowds and lots of admirers. I was able to ride in the passenger seat in the car as it rode across the block and the bidding was spirited and enthusiastic.
Best of all, of course, the money goes to a good cause, as so much does at Barrett-Jackson, which raises millions of dollars annually for philanthropic causes.Barrett-Jackson, Cars, Ford Mustang
