The excitement begins Thursday 5p-11p ET on FOX Sports 2
Don’t miss a moment of the action!
Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, is renowned for its non-stop action and showcasing some of the most rare vehicles to cross an auction block. The legendary auction company supports a variety of charities and has raised more than $55.9 million to date. Barrett-Jackson has become a leading force in its charitable efforts across the nation with no plans on hitting the brakes. After raising more than $5 million at the Scottsdale auction in January, $1.8 million at the Palm Beach auction in April and $620,000 at the most recent Hot August Nights Auction Presented by Barrett-Jackson, the upcoming Las Vegas auction is certain to add to the millions raised for charity.
As charity vehicles cross the block, the enthusiasm from bidders, consignors, celebrities and fans create a heightened level of excitement. Barrett-Jackson waives all fees on charity vehicles and 100% of the proceeds benefit a variety of foundations that include children, the military, medical research and many other important causes.
Starting out the 2013 auction season, Scottsdale’s event featured 21 unique charity vehicles that helped surpass Barrett-Jackson’s $50 million charitable goal. The highlights included the sales of the first production Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, which benefitted Detroit-based College for Creative Studies and marked Barrett-Jackson’s fifth million-dollar car. Another prominent sale was the 1969 Ford Bronco Custom SUV benefitting the Armed Forces Foundation. Auction excitement carried on across the nation to Palm Beach where six charitable vehicles sold, including the 2009 Ford F-150 King Ranch Super Crew Pickup once owned by President George W. Bush. Proceeds from the sale benefited the National Guard Youth Foundation, raising all charity contributions to more than $55.3 million by April of 2013.
Continuing Barrett-Jackson’s philanthropic efforts, two charitable vehicles were sold at the Hot August Nights Auction Presented by Barrett-Jackson. The SAE Foundation will gain assistance from the $120,000 sale of a 2014 Cadillac CTS V-Sport 4 door sedan. Also the last retail 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 convertible sold for $500,000 to support the Brain Injury Association of America.
On the auction podium to help stoke interest in the sale of the 2014 Ford Shelby was none other than the great Parnelli Jones, winner of the 1963 Indy 500 and a strong advocate for the Brain Injury Association of America. Jones, who was celebrating his 80th birthday, was accompanied on the podium by his son, Page Jones, a rising star in racing until a crash during a sprint car race resulted in a life-altering brain injury.
“It’s my 80th birthday, and I can’t imagine a better present,” Parnelli Jones said. “We worked hard to help Page recover from his injury, but we couldn’t have done it alone. We received help from the BIAA, and this funding will aid so many others who have suffered from similar injuries.”
Barrett-Jackson’s 6th Annual Las Vegas auction will be packed with charitable opportunities. The 2012 star-studded September Las Vegas event raised more than $540,000 for local and national charitable organizations. The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions™ is looking forward to experiencing another successful event in Las Vegas, where the auction company plans to raise the bar in contributing to nonprofit organizations.
