The Suzuki Test Team completed a successful two-day test at the Twin Ring Motegi today after being hampered by poor weather conditions yesterday.

Heavy rain on Tuesday, just after the circuit opened at 10am, halted track for all the teams involved until 9am this morning; which saw air temperatures of 30 degrees and track temperatures reaching 50 degrees.

Suzuki MotoGP Test Team rider Randy De Puniet suffered two small crashes in the morning session, but with only minor damage to the machine, he was back on track this afternoon, making important progress and successfully testing two new chassis configurations; one of which the team has chosen to develop further at the next Suzuki MotoGP tests in Italy at Misano next month to obtain more edge grip and stability.

Honda Performance Development Reveals 2014 LMP1 Engine

LE MANS- HPD Reveals 2014 LMP1 Engine

Performance Development, the racing arm of American Motor Co., Inc., is continuing its commitment to customer LMP1 endurance sports-car racing with the 2014 introduction of an all-new, turbocharged V6 engine, to be followed in 2015 by a range of bespoke energy recovery options, for FIA World Endurance Championship competition.

After several successful seasons supplying the normally aspirated Honda LM-V8 engine to private teams in both the and American Le Mans Series, HPD engineers and designers made the decision to offer their partner teams access to updated technology which the company believes will be necessary to successfully compete on the world stage, under the ACO’s new LMP1 energy-based power train regulations.

The new engine, to be designated the Honda HR22T, is based on the same architecture used in the Indianapolis 500-winning, 2.2-liter direct injection turbocharged V6 engine used in IZOD IndyCar Series competition since 2012, designed to be coupled with a new energy recovery system developed in concert with HPD technical partner Magneti Marelli.

After a frustrating first day yesterday, where only managed six full laps due to bad weather, the second day of has been very productive. He completed 47 laps and was able to fulfill the test program scheduled by HRC and execute all of the tasks that had been planned.

This morning, Casey tested a few small items on the 2013 RC213V and continued into the afternoon before switching onto the 2014 machine, the same as Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez tested in Aragon.

Casey Stoner, 47 laps

“Thankfully today the weather improved a lot, in fact it was pretty hot, and we were able to get some good track time and work on our test program. We had a productive day in general and thankfully the test plan wasn’t too hectic, so we were able to get most of it done today, after yesterday’s washout. It was great to see the team, even if there were only a few people here, and I thank for all their support as ever. It felt really good to get back on the bike after 9 months and I’m happy with how the test went, but it doesn’t change my mind about the wild cards – this is not something I am planning to do.”

Shuhei Nakamoto, HRC Executive Vice President

“Over the course of Casey’s two-day test, we’ve been able to gather a vast amount of data and ideas for development. Consequently, we aim to increase our pace of development and hope that this, in turn, will lead to us winning this year’s Championship. We focused exclusively on the RC213V, but in future tests, we’ll get Casey to test-ride the tentatively named Production Racer and assist in raising its level of performance even further.”
