The Red Bull Grand Prix got underway today as a star-studded press conference saw proceedings kick-off at the infamous Brickyard. Repsol Honda Team’s championship leading rookie was joined by teammate , Yamaha Factory Racing duo and Valentino Rossi, Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Cal Crutchlow, LCR Honda ’s Stefan Bradl, as well as Ignite Pramac Racing’s , who makes his long-awaited return from injury.

Crutchlow, whose switch to the Ducati Team for 2014 was announced during the summer break, was the center of attention for the gathered press. He commented: “After Laguna we decided that we were going to stay in America and take a break here, but it wasn’t too much of a break. We had a busy first week and then we obviously released that I’ll be riding for Ducati next year. Really pleased and it was nice to get that done, we can settle for the rest of the year now and see how that goes. Yes there are pros and cons for everything. The most difficult thing was making the phone call to Herve. It was quite an emotional phone call. It was a difficult decision to make but I am pleased to secure my future.”

The 2013 Pro Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, will make its inaugural visit to the greater Salt Lake City area this Saturday, August 17, for the debut of the Built Ford Tough Utah National from Tooele’s state-of-the-art Miller Motorsports Park. The new event will serve as the penultimate round of the 12-race series, which features the most talented field of competitors in over four decades of competition.

The Built Ford Tough Utah National will be the first professional outdoor motocross event to be held in the state of Utah since 1973. The event will take place on a brand-new motocross track constructed in the northeast corner of MMP’s East Road Course. Kawasaki’s looks to continue his success this season by becoming the first 450 Class winner at the new venue, which could result in the points leader clinching his second 450 Class Championship with one round to go in the series.

Kawasaki

Tucked into the rolling green hills of central New York state, Round 10 of the Pro Championship was held at the historic Unadilla National on Saturday in New Berlin, N.Y. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s could not have asked for a better day as he qualified fastest, took both holeshots and led every lap to finish 1-1 and extend his points lead. Teammate Jake Weimer matched his best performance of the year by finishing on the podium in Moto 2 and fourth overall on the day. Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett battled through both motos to finish fifth overall and Martin Davalos rounded out the top-10 overall after picking up the holeshot in Moto 2. In the 250 class Adam Cianciarulo, Justin Hill and Darryn Durham finished 15th, 19th, and 21st respectively, while Tyla Rattray finished 16th in the 450 class.

Unchallenged

After missing the podium in Millville two weeks ago and earning the Ricky Carmichael Hard Charger Award, the current points leader reassured his spot at the top of the standings by dominating the track and competition at Unadilla. Villopoto earned his sixth Oakley Bomb Award as top qualifier in the muddy, rutted conditions. He went on to grab both holeshots, lead every lap, and won both motos by more than 12 seconds. Celebrating his 25th birthday on Tuesday, Villopoto also celebrates a 44-point lead in pursuit of his second 450 Pro Motocross Championship.
