With no rest, the Yamaha Factory Racing team and riders moved directly from Malaysia to Australia this week for the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island on Sunday. The second of the triple-header races will see Jorge Lorenzo and looking to take the fight to their rivals in the final rounds as the championship heads into its final three races.

Defending world champion Lorenzo has yet to take a premier class win at the Phillip Island circuit, but does claim two 250cc victories there in 2006 and 2007, and retains good memories having sealed his 2012 world title there.

SportsCars: Sean Edwards To Be Honored At Petit Le Mans

The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequil Patrón will honor the memory of driver Sean Edwards at the season-ending Powered by Mazda at on Oct. 19. Edwards, 26, died Tuesday in an accident during a private driving training session at Queensland Raceway in Australia.

In tribute to Edwards’ memory, a memorial decal has been created for all cars competing in the season finale. The decal design was created from an illustration of Edwards’ helmet by renowned motorsports artist Andy Blackmore.

After their fantastic 1-2 finish in Sepang on Sunday, , and the Repsol Honda Team are already en route to Phillip Island in Australia.

The Phillip Island circuit is blessed with breathtaking scenery and beautiful ocean views and, as one of the fastest most fluid tracks on the calendar, it continues to provide some of the most spectacular racing of the season.

Target driver Dario Franchitti was released from Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center in Houston on Thursday.

He will be traveling to Indianapolis where he will be reevaluated over the next few days and ultimately await a second surgery to his right ankle, which had previously been stabilized.

Franchitti stated:

“I’m overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and I’m thankful to have such a great family and such wonderful friends and fans. Thanks to everyone at the hospital and the track who took such good care of me during my stay in Houston. I look forward to watching Scott (Dixon), Alex (Tagliani) and the Target team next weekend on television, and will be pulling for them as they go for another championship.”
