While not having been the quickest car, it was Stadler Motorsport’s Porsche 997 GT3 R that proved to be the toughest, as the Swiss squad claimed victory in an attrition-filled Dunlop 24 Hours of Dubai.

Rolf Ineichen took the 997-based Porsche across the line to claim the German manufacturer’s first overall victory in the around-the-clock desert in four years, sharing the winning machine with Mark Ineichen, Marcel Matter, Adrian Amstutz and Porsche Supercup ace Christian Engelhart.

V8 Racing will start Friday’s Dunlop 24 Hours of Dubai from the top spot after claiming a surprise pole today at the Dubai Autodrome.

Nicky Pastorelli took the former factory Corvette C6.R GT1 car to a new qualifying lap record of 1:57.282, outpacing two-time and defending race winner Jeroen Bleekemolen by 0.163 seconds.

With the Ford-powered teams packing up early, Corvette DPs led the way in the third and final day of testing at the Roar Before the Rolex 24.

A 1:39.748 lap time by the No. 90 Spirit of Daytona entry of Richard Westbrook was the quickest on Sunday but it was Christian Fittipaldi’s 1:38.630 lap in the No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP, set in Friday’s opening session, that stood as the best of the weekend.

After a day led by Corvette DPs, a Ford EcoBoost-powered Riley led the way Saturday at Daytona in the second day of official pre-season testing.

NASCAR star Jamie McMurray topped the time sheets following the completion of the three daytime sessions on the 3.56-mile oval/road course.

McMurray’s 1:38.980 lap time in the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing DP entry, set in the 90-minute early afternoon session, was quickest of the day, although more than two-tenths slower than Friday’s pace-setting No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP of Christian Fittipaldi.

Action Express Racing topped the time charts in near-frigid opening day of testing at Daytona International Speedway, as teams prepare for the season-opening .

Christian Fittipaldi pedaled the No. 5 Corvette DP to a quick lap of 1:38.630 in Friday morning’s 1-hour and 45-minute session.

It stood as the quickest time of the day, despite a 1:38.898 lap time recorded by the No. 90 Corvette DP of in the afternoon.
