Mere hours after it was made official that fellow contender Davi Millsaps suffered an injury while testing for the upcoming 2014 season, issued a press release stating that will miss the opening rounds of the championship after breaking his arm over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Canard underwent successful surgery Tuesday and will immediately begin rehabilitation in hopes of getting back into competition ASAP.

“Of course we are disappointed that Trey will miss the opening rounds of the 2014 season,” said Director in the release. “He has been going really fast at all our pre-season test sessions. We all know how hard Trey will work to get back as soon as he can, and the whole team can’t wait for his return.”

Rumored on Twitter and message boards and confirmed yesterday by Cycle News, veteran rider may miss the opening round of the 2014 season and his return to action in general is currently up in the air following an apparent knee injury while testing.

With his team switching from Suzuki to KTM for the 2014 season, Millsaps has been hard at work acclimating to the bike since August when he returned to riding following reconstructive knee surgery this past summer. The report indicates the current injury is to Millsap’s other, non-surgically repaired knee.

“I washed out in a corner and my leg got caught with the bike,” Millsaps told Cycle News. “As the bike kept flipping, it twisted my knee. We’re still in the early stages right now. I’ve had an MRI on it, but I have to go back in and get another one. As of right now, we’re not sure what’s going on and what’s going to happen.”

Red Bull, now iconic for its off-the-wall yet undeniably cool one-of-a-kind events, revealed its latest creation on Nov. 6 with Red Bull Straight Rhythm. A longstanding personal sponsor of two-time AMA champion James Stewart and current title sponsor of the Red Bull KTM racing team, this marked the first time the brand’s dream-to-reality trademark was applied to world of racing.

Red Bull recently hosted Give Me Five in Spain, which featured a more condensed, excitement-driven take on the traditional racing format with five riders battling for five laps. However, Straight Rhythm is unlike anything seen before. Considered what Red Bull calls the “evolution of supercross,” Straight Rhythm is an “unwound” version of a supercross track, featuring the traditional obstacles that challenge riders on any given weekend during the AMA Supercross season but in a half-mile straight line.

After a successful start to the weekend in Teutschenthal, Germany, where they qualified second overall, Team USA had high hopes entering Sunday’s 67th running of the Motocross of Nations. The lineup of (MX1), (MX2), and (MX3/Open) was one of the most formidable tandems in recent years and following a hard-to-swallow third-place finish one year prior, this trio wanted nothing more than to bring the Chamberlain Cup back to the states.

While Team USA was the group to beat throughout the afternoon on Sunday, a couple mistakes ended up costing the team its 23rd title at the illustrious event. Instead, it was Team Belgium, arguably the biggest threat to the U.S. coming into the event, that prevailed to claim its 15th MXoN crown, its first since 2004, with Team USA following just three points behind in second.

Following a disappointing performance one year ago in Belgium, Team USA began its quest for redemption today at the 67th running of the Motocross of Nations. The Talkessel facility in Teutschenthal, Germany, will host a landmark 41 countries this weekend at the world’s most important motocross event and Team USA heads into action with a chip on its shoulder.

Following a random ballot selection to determine starting positions, all 123 riders took to the track on Saturday afternoon for qualifying to see who will race for the coveted Chamberlain Cup on Sunday and what position on the gate they will do it from.
