Dungey Makes It Two Straight

After over three decades of hosting the world’s fastest riders, New England’s legendary Moto-X 338 facility hosted its final round of Pro Championship, sanctioned by , on Saturday. A massive crowd was on hand as the 2013 season reached the halfway point with the sixth round of the championship at the 35th Annual ChaplinKawasaki.com Moto-X 338 National.

After a pair of grueling 450 Class motos on one of the world’s most demanding circuits, KTM’s secured his second straight overall victory following 1-2 moto results, gaining valuable ground in the championship standings. In the 250 Class, GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac put forth one of his best outings of the season across each moto to also carry 1-2 moto finishes to his second overall win of the season.

Dungey And Villopoto Square Off At Southwick

Reigning 450 Class Champion added a second overall victory to the season last round in Maryland, but the flip-flopped moto score of (1-2) with produced a blank draw as far as series points are concerned. Heading into this Saturday’s Chaplin Kawasaki Moto-X 338 National on June 29, Villopoto remains sixteen points ahead of Dungey, as the two former champions go head-to-head at the final Pro National in , Mass.

KTM’s Dungey remains the only rider to finish atop the podium in every moto of the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by . In fact, Dungey has only placed third one time this season-at Round 3-where he’s otherwise finished first or second place in every moto. As a two-time winner of the 450 Class at Moto-X 338, Dungey looks to secure his third career win at the historic sand track.

The 24th Annual National showcased ultra-competitive racing action for Round 5 of the 2013 Pro Championship, sanctioned by . Reigning 450 Class champion captured his second overall victory of the season in the 450 Class. Blake Baggett returned to his winning ways from 2012 as the defending 250 Class champion secured his first overall victory of the season with a big win in Mechanicsville, Md. Saturday’s win marked back-to-back Budds Creek victories for both riders in their respective classes.

Yoshimura Suzuki’s laid down the fastest lap of the day in the 450 Class, where he came into Moto 1 with the first choice of gate pick. However, it was¬†Toyota/JGR/Yamaha’s Justin Brayton and Smartop/MotoConcepts Racing’s Mike Alessi who went head-to-head for the Motorcycle Superstore Holeshot, which Alessi secured at the last second. From there, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s grabbed the early lead and immediately put a gap on the rest of the field.

Villopoto Carries Momentum Into Budds Creek

This Saturday, Southern Maryland’s MX Park will host the world’s best riders for Round 5 of the 2013 Pro Championship, sanctioned by . Taking place in Mechanicsville, Md., just an hour outside of the nation’s capital, the 23rd Annual National will set the stage for two of the most highly contested championships in Lucas Oil Pro Motocross history. Current points leader and 2011 champion will go head-to-head with reigning champ in the 450 Class, while Ken Roczen and Eli Tomac will both attempt to become the second repeat winner in the 250 Class as Marvin Musquin looks to secure his third consecutive win at Budds Creek.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Villopoto captured his third overall victory of the season at High Point Raceway with a clean sweep in the 450 Class, giving the points leader a total of seven moto wins to date. Villopoto’s successful season has given him considerable momentum heading into Round 5 this weekend, where he looks to extend his points lead at Budds Creek.
