The Australian appeared on the BBC’s highly popular British motoring program Top Gear this week, where he admitted the sport is now “very different” to when he debuted over 200 Grands Prix ago.

Asked about the era of heavily-degrading Pirelli tires, Webber told presenter Jeremy Clarkson: “But that’s the way it is.

“We’ve got to learn and get on with it, but you’ve got to be able to push. In Formula One it’s about us boys being absolutely on the limit all the time. Or it should be.”

The sidelight of Kimball’s popular and first win in the IZOD series is that he’s a Type 1 diabetic who’s overcome a potential career-ending health issue with perseverance and a big assist from his sponsor, Novo Nordisk.

Thanks to the Novo Log FlexPen, which produces the perfect mixture of insulin before Charlie straps in, he was able to run full bore to the checkered flag in a caution-free race on one of the most physically-demanding road courses in North America.

When the 28-year-old Californian hopped out of his car to begin celebrating, he looked like he could have run another 90 laps.

Drivers Set For Double, Triple Duty This Weekend At Road America

It’s set to be a busy weekend in for a number of sports car drivers, as and the American Le Mans Series races together for the first, and only time.

A total of eight drivers will be pulling double duty between Saturday’s VisitFlorida.com Sports Car 250 Rolex Sports Car Series race and the Orion Energy Systems 245 round on Sunday, including three who will also add Saturday’s Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race to the mix.

Triple Duty drivers are , Bill Auberlen and , all of whom will be racking up plenty of miles around the 4-mile, 14-turn circuit in three different types of machinery.

Bisceglia Wins AMA Racing Horizon Award

The American Motorcyclist Association is pleased to recognize 36 new AMA national champions following a tremendous week of racing at the Red Bull AMA Amateur National Championship in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., July 28 through Aug. 4.

“The Red Bull AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship is the country’s premier amateur motocross event, and the riders who raise AMA No. 1 plates over their heads here can count themselves among the best of the best,” said Manager Kip Bigelow. “We congratulate all the riders for excelling on the national stage, and we once again thank our promotional and organizational partner MX Sports for providing an exceptional experience for thousands of AMA members, from track prep to the awards ceremonies.”

Among the most decorated racers over the week of competition was AMA Motocross Horizon Award winner and Amsoil/Factory Connection Honda rider from Weatherford, Texas. Bisceglia swept all three motos in the Open Pro Sport class and scored two firsts and a second in the 250 A class for two national titles.

36 MX Champions Crowned At Loretta Lynn’s

The 2013 Red Bull AMA Amateur National Championship presented by AMSOIL wrapped up a week-long competition on Saturday, officially crowning 36 National Champions at the evening’s award ceremonies. Adverse weather conditions presented additional obstacles for the racers but in the end, the 32nd annual championship proved to be one of the most historic events to date.

For the first time ever, Loretta Lynn’s was broadcast live on RacerTV.com all week long with the ultimate culmination on Saturday afternoon as the 250 A and 250 B final motos were broadcast live on NBC as part of the Red Bull Signature Series. In front of a mass audience on network television, 250 A National Champion and 250 B National Champion Aaron Plessinger each put in a spectacular final moto to close out their week at the Ranch.
