Texans LB Cushing cleared, will return in time for camp

The Houston Texans’ defense is close to getting back to full strength.

Linebacker Brian Cushing, who has been recovering from knee surgery, is set to return to the practice field.

Cushing suffered a torn ACL in his left knee when he collided with Jets guard Matt Slauson in the Texans’ win in October of last year.

Cushing, who started five games and recorded 30 tackles and one interception before his injury, sat out the rest of the 2012 season and did not participate in organized team activities.
