Looking at a box score is something anyone can do. Who lead my team in scoring? How'd we shoot from the field? And while that knowledge is useful, does it really earn you bonus points around the water cooler?
That's why I'm here. I'm bringing you the S.W.I.M: Statistics Worth Increased Media. Let Joe from accounting regurgitate what he heard on the way in this morning; you're better than that. Use these nuggets to gain a unique perspective about last night's Mavericks/Clippers game.
Since February 22nd, Dirk Nowitzki has eight assists on the road (eight games and 256 minutes played).
Shawn Marion has blocked the same number of shots in April as he had from January 2nd â March 31st.
The Matrix has recorded at least nine rebounds in back-to-back games for the first time since December 11-14.
In the Mavericks last three wins, Devin Harris has dished out ten assists while committing only one turnover. In their last three losses, the backup point guard has 13 assists and eight turnovers.
Jose Calderon has registered more rebounds than assists in three of four meeting with the Clippers this year (he averages 6.9 assists and 2.5 rebounds for his career).
If Calderon can stay hot and average 3.5 three pointers over the next six games, he will make more triples this season than he attempted for any one team in any other season.
This was the Clippers first loss in the last ten games in which Blake Griffin handed out at least five assists.
On January 15th, Griffin had eight assists and five turnovers against these very Mavericks. Since that point in time, he has two eight-plus assist games and has totaled just one turnover.
The last five games in which Chris Paul has recorded at least nine assists and no more than one turnover have come against Southwest teams.
For the first time since February 2010, Darren Collison has rattled off three consecutive games with at least 20 points.
Furthermore, Collison has recorded just three assists in 63 minutes over the last two weeks against the Mavericks. In all other games over the last two weeks, he is averaging more than 8.5 assists per 48 minutes.
