Sooners’ Perine, Mixon pay for fumbles with full-field pushups

NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma starting running backs Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon fumbled last Saturday in Oklahoma’s win over Tulsa.

And it appeared the two paid for it on Monday.

Perine and Mixon were seen at practice doing push-ups every 5 yards from endzone to endzone in what clearly looked like a drill to let the players know their fumbles weren’t forgotten.

OU has fumbled four times this year through three games, losing three of them. Quarterback Baker Mayfield has thrown two interceptions. Meanwhile, the Sooners have recovered one fumble and have one interception.

Perine has 263 yards this season on the ground. He led the Big 12 last year with 1,713 yards. Mixon has 93 yards through three games.
