Romo is a spokesperson for the "Miracle of the Million" charity, having shot several promos for the organization over the last year.
On Monday, Romo stepped up and did what he's asked many to do during these spots.
Romo said he is donating $1 million over the next three years to the organization. He made the announcement Monday during a breakfast with the leader of the organization, Dr. Tony Evans, Dallas radio station 90.9-KCBI-FM reported on Tuesday.
The program was started by Evans, pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, when a principle of a Dallas-area high school contacted him about the violence in his school. The program works as an "adopt-a-school" system where area churches help troubled schools.
Romo has a connection to Evans deeper than the program. Evans was the co-official at Romo's wedding to former Miss Missouri USA Candice Crawford, who was introduced to the national media on Sunday night after NBC cameras locked in on her sitting in a suite during the Cowboys game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
