ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas Rangers added some infield depth by signing infielder Brendan Harris to a minor-league deal.
The Rangers assigned Harris to Triple A Round Rock.
Texas is the third organization Harris has been with this season. He was on the Los Angeles Angels Opening Day roster before being designated for assignment in July. He signed a minor-league deal with the New York Yankees and was released from his contract Wednesday.
Harris hit .206 with four home runs and nine RBI for the Angels this season. He batted .233 in 22 games for New York’s Triple A club.
Harris has played for the Chicago Cubs, Montreal/Washington, Cincinnati, Tampa Bay, Minnesota and the Angels at the big-league level. Harris, who turns 33 next week, is a career .256 hitter and he’s played every infield position.
