The Texas Rangers will spend plenty of spring training away from Surprise next year.
The club released its full spring training schedule Tuesday and it includes a record 38 games for the Rangers.
Five of those games will be outside Arizona as the club will play the Chicago Cubs March 16-17 in Las Vegas. Texas will close its exhibition slate with a game against the Mexico City Red Devils at Rangers Ballpark on March 28 before heading to San Antonio for a March 29-30 series against San Diego.
The exhibition slate opens Feb. 22 with the annual charity game against Kansas City. That will mark the first of three-consecutive games against the Royals at Surprise Stadium.
The Rangers have two open dates next spring – March 13 and March 20.
Pitchers and catchers are slated to report Feb. 12 with workouts beginning Feb. 13. The report date for position players is Feb. 15 with full-squad workouts starting Feb. 16.
