Texas left-hander Joseph Ortiz, who pitched in 32 games for the Rangers as a rookie, is likely out for three months after breaking a bone in his left foot.

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas left-hander Joseph Ortiz, who pitched in 32 games for the Rangers as a rookie, is likely out for three months after breaking a bone in his left foot.

Ortiz, 23, had his foot run over by a motorcycle in his native Venezuela. He had surgery Friday morning in Dallas.

Ortiz went 2-2 with a 4.23 ERA in 44 2/3 innings for the Rangers in 2013 after making the Opening Day roster. He had three stints with the Rangers and also pitched in 19 games in Triple A.
