ARLINGTON, Texas – Texas ace Yu Darvish, who cut his right thumb during his last start, doesn’t see it as an issue heading into his Wednesday night showdown against Felix Hernandez.

"Even when I was throwing it didn’t hurt me," said Darvish, who has a small cut on his thumb. "I’ve done this so many teams that probably the nerve isn’t working anymore so it didn’t hurt me at all."

Darvish cut his thumb with his index finger throwing his curveball. Despite the cut, he allowed just one hit and struck out nine in eight shutout innings against the Astros. He didn’t factor in the decision though as the Rangers won 1-0 in 12 innings.

Dating back to last season, three of the last seven Darvish starts have ended in 1-0 scores.

Despite that, Darvish said he isn’t concerned about run support or pitching in close games.

"When I have too much run support I relax too much so that’s not a good thing," Darvish said. "As long as the fans are enjoying it and we’re playing good baseball I’m happy."
