It’s got to be getting close to college football season because all of the watch lists are coming out.
And the Big 12 is well represented.
TCU’s Devonte Fields and Jason Verrett have each been named to the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which goes to the top defensive player in the country.
TCU is just one of 15 schools to have more than one player on the Bednarik list.
TCU quarterback Casey Pachall is also on the Maxwell Award watch list. The Maxwell Award goes to the college player of the year.
Not to be outdone by one of their new conference rivals, the Texas Longhorns had a pair of players make watch lists too. Junior quarterback David Ash is on the Maxwell list and senior defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat is on the Bednarik list along.
Baylor junior linebacker Bryce Hager, who led the Bears in tackles last season, also made the Bednarik list. He’s the first Bear to make the list in four years.
Baylor also has a Maxwell list rep in running back Lache Seastrunk. Seastrunk gives the Bears a Maxwell rep for the third-straight year, joining Robert Griffin III and Terrance Williams.
