No glove, no problem for Rangers Berkman

He showed up to spring training Friday without a glove.
"For 12 years I never had to worry about it because the equipment guy in Houston just packed up my locker and it showed up in spring training," Berkman said. "I forget, this is an oversight on my part because I'm fairly new at this switching team's thing, but I forgot to have them have a glove here. It wasn't on purpose. I have plenty at the house."
Berkman is confident he'll be able to get a glove but he's ready to play without one if not.
He said one of his favorite players of all time is Hall of Famer Bid McPhee, who was the last second baseman to play the game gloveless.
Berkman, who is coming off a pair of surgeries and said he's about 80 percent healthy, is confident he can follow in McPhee's footsteps – to a point.
"Hopefully I can take a page out his book and just go barehanded this year," said Berkman, who earlier said he's healthy enough he could outrun a grizzly bear if it were in the clubhouse. "But with my range I think it will be perfect."
