The Eagles have signed Jones to a one-year contract, likely to serve as a third-stringer behind Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy and backup Bryce Brown.
Last year, Jones, 26, started seven games while subbing for the injured DeMarco Murray. Jones finished with 402 yards on 111 carries for a 3.6 average. He had three rushing touchdowns and two receiving TDs along with 25 receptions for 262 yards while struggling as a kickoff returner.
In 2010, he had a combined 1,250 yards rushing and receiving with two touchdowns. In his rookie season, Jones looked like he might meet expectations when on his first career carry he ran for an 11-yard touchdown, recorded a 98-yard kickoff return on Monday Night Football against the Eagles, and scored on a 60-yard run against the Packers.
