ARLINGTON, Texas –Yu Darvish, who was nearly perfect in his last start, will make his scheduled started Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels despite a blister issue on his right ring finger.
Darvish developed the blister in the sixth inning of his start Tuesday night but carried a perfect game into the bottom of the ninth only to have Marwin Gonzalez break it up with a two-out single that went through Darvish's legs.
"It's good," Darvish said of the blister.
Tuesday's start wasn't the first time he's had a problem with a finger. He said he had issues in Japan, but it was more of a skin issue than a blister problem. Whether or not it impacts his pitch selection Sunday remains to be seen.
"Even if I knew, I wouldn't be able to tell you right now," Darvish said.
Darvish will start opposite Los Angeles ace Jered Weaver. It will also be the first time he's faced the Angels with Josh Hamilton in the lineup.
"My approach stays the same no matter which team I face," Darvish said. "I'm just going to do my job."
