Cowboys sign veteran TE Dante Rosario

This week is off to another tight-end newsy start.
The Cowboys are signing veteran Dante Rosario, who has some solid moments behind Antonio Gates last year in San Diego. Rosario, a fifth-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, caught 10 passes for 95 yards last season for the Chargers and has 99 catches for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns in his career.
To make room for Rosario, Dallas waived young prospect Paul Freedman, a tight end. The Cowboys are now deep with some credentials at the position, with Jason Witten, James Hanna and rookie second-round pick Gavin Escobar atop the depth chart. At some point, Dallas might consider keeping a fourth tight end – especially if he can block – and may not retain a fullback.
