With the Dallas Mavericks’ brass set to meet with free agent Deron Williams on Monday, it freed up some time for Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle to take in some dinner in New York City on Sunday night.
And so he did. It just so happened that the dinner was with another prospective free agent with ties to Dallas.
“Great dinner and metting in NYC at Atlantic Grill w/ Coach Carlisle,” free-agent swingman C.J. Miles posted to his Twitter account Sunday night. “Can most definitely see why players like and play well for him.”
Miles and the Mavericks have been connected as a possible match this offseason. Miles, who has played all seven of his NBA seasons with the Utah Jazz, is a product of Dallas Skyline High School and has mentioned in the past that he would be open for a return home.
Dallas, looking to get younger across the board as it retools the roster, would be interested in the 6-6 guard/forward. Miles, 25, has posted career averages of 8.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. He came right to the pros out of high school.
