Freshman receiver Ricky Seals-Jones, who could make his college debut Saturday against Rice, is mentioned in the new book, "The System: The Glory and Scandal of Big-Time College Football."
The book, written by Armen Keteyian and Jeff Benedict, talks about the recruiting of Seals-Jones while he was at Sealy (Texas) High.
According to the book, Seals-Jones and his family had an offer of $300,000 cash, use of a suite, eight season tickets, $1,000 for Seals-Jones and $500 a month for his family from a "top-20 program."
Chester Jones, Seals-Jones father, said the offers went higher than that. He said they were offered up to $600,000 and said that one SEC school and an ACC school said they'd double any offer he received. He said A&M was not the school involved.
