ARLINGTON, Texas -- Designated hitter Lance Berkman, who hurt his right knee exited the airplane following the recent Texas road trip, was out of the lineup once again Sunday.
Berkman hasn't played on the homestand and has played in just two of the team's last 10 games, including the last four.
Texas manager Ron Washington doesn't think Berkman will need to go on the disabled list and Berkman is hoping he can be back in the lineup Tuesday.
"I twisted it," said Berkman. "It doesn't surprise me (that it's taken this long)."
The knee injury, which occurred last Thursday night, is the latest of strange injuries for the
Rangers. Utility man Jeff Baker is on the DL with a sprained right thumb he hurt while exchanging a high five with a teammate.
Berkman is hitting just .198 in his last 25 games and has just three extra-base hits in his last 27 games.
