Pelicans head coach Monty Williams has been making the case for his star sophomore Anthony Davis to be in the number of soon-to-be-named All Star reserves because of how Davis plays on both sides of the ball.
The Kentucky product is number one in the league in blocked shots, averaging 3.0 per game. Davis is also a top rebounder, and his growth in scoring has now reached a historic level, trumping even Shaq and LeBron James.
Davis has made a bigger jump in his scoring average from his rookie to his second season than all but one of the NBA’s other overall No. 1 picks in the past 40 years.
Only Bob Lanier made a more significant jump in scoring in the early 70s.
