Chipper Jones did not forge his way into the hearts of Braves fans around the country without a good dose of humor during his time in Atlanta, and that outlook on life has extended its way into retirement and onto the third baseman’s Twitter account.
In his own self-deprecating way, Jones tweeted out a picture of himself assembling a basketball goal, presumably for some form of holiday gift. Of course, as with all pictures following an “Assembly Required” label, things went terribly wrong in the best way.
In the photo, Jones is standing next to his creation: A basketball goal propped up inside a step ladder. The only way to describe his facial expressions is befuddled.
“What’s wrong with this pic folks? Never said I was the sharpest tool in the shed. Damn ladder!!! Lol,” Jones tweeted out to his 215,720 followers.
Jones has not tweeted since the incident, so the resolution remains in doubt.
At the very least, it looks like Jones, who decided to step away from baseball following the 2012 season, is enjoying his retirement.
He retired as one of the all-time great Braves players, finishing with a career .303 batting average and 468 home runs.
