ATLANTA – Atlanta United, FOX Sports South and FOX Sports Southeast today announced that BBC Radio Sport’s lead play-by-play commentator Alan Green will join the club’s broadcast team for the remaining 14 matches of the 2017 inaugural season televised on FOX Sports regional networks.

At the start of the season, the club announced shared play-by-play duties between Green and beIN Sports commentator and studio host Kevin Egan, who called the club’s first five regionally televised matches. Green will join color analyst Dan Gargan and studio host and sideline reporter Brittany Arnold for the FOX Sports Southeast broadcast of Atlanta United’s match vs. Columbus Crew SC on Saturday, June 17. Coverage will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET with Atlanta United LIVE!

"I've been very fortunate in my career to have done play-by-play for many of the world’s most elite tournaments including World Cups, European Championship and European Champions League finals,” said Alan Green. “The opportunity to be a commentator for Atlanta United is extremely exciting for me and I’m looking forward to the new experience. I’ve been watching the club’s early season matches from England and can’t wait to join the broadcast team for my first match later this month.”

A seasoned international commentator on both radio and TV, Green recently called the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Juventus in Cardiff, Wales, on June 3 and has been part of the BBC broadcast team for the majority of his career. Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, he joined BBC Radio Sport as a regular national play-by-play soccer commentator in 1982.

Green has served as BBC Radio Sport’s lead soccer commentator since 1990, covering more than 115 major finals including seven World Cups, eight European championships as well as numerous Champions League Finals. In addition, Green hosts the BBC World Service program ‘World Football’ and has provided television commentary for ‘BBC Match of the Day’ airing weekends on BBC One.  Following the Atlanta United season, he will continue his work with BBC Sport, returning to England in late fall.

“We are grateful to Kevin for his brilliant work calling the first five games of our inaugural season, and are excited to welcome Alan to our broadcast team for our remaining regionally televised matches,” said Atlanta United president Darren Eales. “Alan has an outstanding reputation as a leading radio and television host as well as a play-by-play commentator for major international tournaments. His diverse experience will allow him to contribute a distinct point of view to our broadcasts.”

"Atlanta United may be a first-year MLS expansion team, but Atlanta soccer fans are knowledgeable and recognize they have a world class team in every regard from the players, coach Martino, Mr. Blank’s ownership and leadership, and match telecasts,” said Jeff Genthner, senior vice president and general manager of FOX Sports South. “Kevin Egan did an exceptional job calling our Atlanta United telecasts to this point in the season, and we are now very excited to welcome world-renowned match commentator Alan Green to our FOX Sports regional telecasts."

FOX Sports South and FOX Sports Southeast will televise a total of 19 Atlanta United matches during the 2017 season. Click here for an updated schedule of remaining telecasts.
