Jul 3, 2014 at 2:00p ET
The road to World Cup glory is slowly reaching its climax.
In the third World Cup installment of the FOX Soccer Podcast, United States Soccer National Hall of Fame journalist Jerry Trecker and FOX Soccer's Kyle McCarthy join Thomas Hautmann to discuss the United States men's national team's performance in Brazil as a whole, and analyze whether or not fans should be encouraged by the team's progress under Jurgen Klinsmann. The crew also tackle what needs to change before the next World Cup in 2018, and who might emerge as the next key pillars on USA's team.
Later in the show, our experts preview each of the tasty quarterfinal matches as the drama of the competition quickly approaches its boiling point. Can Brazil and Argentina bounce back from close calls in the Round of 16? Will Germany figure out their struggles in time for France? And where does Costa Rica's run rank among the unlikeliest in World Cup history? We tackle all these questions and more as we get set for some July 4 fireworks, World Cup style.
