Watch Alejandro Bedoya score his first MLS goal -- it's a beauty

When the Philadelphia Union signed U.S. national team midfielder Alejandro Bedoya, it seemed like a pretty good signing, except perhaps for the high relative cost the Union were going to pay. Well, Bedoya scored his first MLS goal on Saturday against Toronto FC and it was worth the price of admission alone.

Take a look at this chip that tucks just under the crossbar and over the hands of goalkeeper Clint Irwin -- a precise strike if there ever was one:

Bedoya made the move to the Union, near his native New Jersey, last month, leaving Ligue 1 club Nantes after three years in France. It cost the Union a reported $2 million to sign the USMNT midfielder, the largest sum the club has ever spent on a single player. But even despite it taking six starts for him to notch his first MLS goal, Bedoya has made the Union midfield more dangerous and better organized. And, well, if he can keep scoring goals like that, it will surely be worth every penny.

The Union aren't into the playoffs just yet, but sit in fourth in the Eastern Conference and look poised for a post-season run.
